The consists of correspondence, vaccination records, confirmation certificates, receipts, and other documents arranged in chronological order by and documenting the Brand and Ott families in both Alsace and Illinois.
The first folder contains undated records and record fragments, the second contains correspondence and other papers.
Brand family
This collection documents early Highland Park and Elm Place School. It is a series of class photographs and teaching aids. The collection has been arranged into 5 series with a list of each item in that series. They are mostly black and white and a few have been damaged. They are all 4x5. These slides may have been taken chiefly by Jesse Lowe Smith. Brand Studio may also be responsible for some of the photography.

Highland Park Hospital - Employee Photographs
The collection consists of photographs of Gertrude Knapmiller Ronzani, Floyd Presley, Theresa Slack, John Frantonius, Marie Knapmiller Frantonius, and John Peterson. Also included are a lady's lace cap, a booklet celebrating the 20th anniversary of the hospital in 1938, a postcard, and a photocopy of the fifteenth census of the United States of 1930, issued by the Department of Commerce - Bureau of the Census.

This brief reminiscence of early years on Michigan Avenue in Chicago and Highland Park, Illinois, recalls devoted paternal grandparents, music lessons and chamber music with the Du Moulin family, a father’s departure, a determined single mother and her male friend, attending Harvard College, and teaching music and possibly English at Hull House. The manuscript ends with notes for ideas for an autobiography.
