Biographical history

The Brand family immigrated to the United States from Alsace. Philip Brand (b. 1813) arrived in 1837 to the Highland Park area (Deerfield/Northfield). He married Mary Salome Ott, also an emigrant from Alscace. They had 7 children, 5 boys and 2 girls. The 5 boys of the family created the Brand Brothers Paint Company. Two brothers became artists of repute in Highland Park. William Enoch Brand was an artist. He worked with his siblings and his own projects.
