The Ernest A. Grunsfeld Jr collection contains hand drawn architectural plans, schedules, surveys, detailed notes, and blueprints. The collection is a combination of new construction undertaken by Grunsfled and various collaborators, including alterations Grunsfeld undertook on existing buildings. All the buildings covered are private residences and were built in the area now known as Highland Park, Illinois.

The map of Highland Park and vicinity was compiled by Windes and Marsh, civil engineers and surveyors. The map is color coded. The date on the map is 1934. However, there is a note: P.E. Cole, city engineer, January 1938. The atlas of the city of Highland Park, Lake County Index sheet shows a street index of Highland Park that is color coded. The index sheet was drawn in 1932 by D.D. Corrough and P.E. Cole and revised 26 Feb 1939 by Corrough and 18 July 1939 by P.E. Cole.
The collection consists of photographs of Gertrude Knapmiller Ronzani, Floyd Presley, Theresa Slack, John Frantonius, Marie Knapmiller Frantonius, and John Peterson. Also included are a lady's lace cap, a booklet celebrating the 20th anniversary of the hospital in 1938, a postcard, and a photocopy of the fifteenth census of the United States of 1930, issued by the Department of Commerce - Bureau of the Census.
