The Ernest A. Grunsfeld Jr collection contains hand drawn architectural plans, schedules, surveys, detailed notes, and blueprints. The collection is a combination of new construction undertaken by Grunsfled and various collaborators, including alterations Grunsfeld undertook on existing buildings. All the buildings covered are private residences and were built in the area now known as Highland Park, Illinois.
This collection visually documents 1926 granite War Memorial, in Memorial Park, Highland Park, Illinois designed and installed by James Cady Ewell. Photo negatives show the creation of the sculpture in studio and the final installation.
The collection also includes family history excerpts from Ewell's and Crafts Dudley Watson's biographies and a sound disc of a talk by Watson rerecorded by Watson (and Cady Ewell's) grandson.
Watson also lived and worked in Highland Park, Illinois and was the maternal grandfather of the donor. .

The folder also includes mounted uniform buttons and Army and Regimental pins and the History and Roster of the Sixty-Fifth Illinois Infantry. There are photocopies of all the documents in a second folder
