Images and manuscripts documenting early settlers and residents in Highland Park.

The collection consists of photographs of Gertrude Knapmiller Ronzani, Floyd Presley, Theresa Slack, John Frantonius, Marie Knapmiller Frantonius, and John Peterson. Also included are a lady's lace cap, a booklet celebrating the 20th anniversary of the hospital in 1938, a postcard, and a photocopy of the fifteenth census of the United States of 1930, issued by the Department of Commerce - Bureau of the Census.

The collection contains photographs, class reunion books, newspaper clippings, and issues of The Shoreline.

The collection is arranged by folders, and contains the commencement program (1941), photographs of the 20th class reunion (1961), a booklet from the 45th reunion (1986), two booklets from the 50th reunion (1991), photocopies of newspaper clippings from the 40's regarding high school events, newspaper clippings (1942-1944), a photograph from the 55th reunion (1997), a photograph of the Edwin Gilroy family (1997), Gertrude Frances Sesso Intermediate School diploma from Elm Place (1937), and a Vocation Reading Course Certificate (1935), an issue of Highland Park News (1943), and issues of the High School annual newsletter, The Shoreline (1938-1942).

Club, including YWCA clubs, or school images of Betty Lou Garling, née Benson, and her mother Carrie Benson, née Gerken, active clubwoman. At least one image appears to be a graduation image from Elm Place School.

This collection consists of teaching materials used by Barbara Whitford while she was working as a Special Training Unit Teacher at Ford Sheridan during the years 1941-1945. Whitford taught remedial reading and arithmetic to soldiers during World War II. Included in this collection as well are personal administrative files of Whitford's during this time as well as some correspondence with her students.

The collection has been separated into two series. The first series contains Barbara Whitford's instructional materials used in her classes. The second series contains the personal administrative document of Barbara Whitford as well as documents kept from her time with the Special Training Unit.

These architecture plans are the preliminary study of a building for the Highland Park High School Deerfield- Shields Township High School District. This study was completed October 12, 1945. The scale is 1/16in to a foot.
