Barbara Whitford papers

This collection consists of teaching materials used by Barbara Whitford while she was working as a Special Training Unit Teacher at Ford Sheridan during the years 1941-1945. Whitford taught remedial reading and arithmetic to soldiers during World War II. Included in this collection as well are personal administrative files of Whitford's during this time as well as some correspondence with her students.

The collection has been separated into two series. The first series contains Barbara Whitford's instructional materials used in her classes. The second series contains the personal administrative document of Barbara Whitford as well as documents kept from her time with the Special Training Unit.

Highland Park Hospital Collection

This collection documents the Highland Park Hospital. There are two series: Friends of Highland Park Hospital and Highland Park Hospital.

The first series holds reports and other materials created by the Friends of Highland Park Hospital and related organizations. The community funded hospital and its supporting organizations created and disseminated updates on the hospital's progress, events, and free general health information. The Hospital also had a Thrift Shop, run by the Highland Park Hospital Auxiliary. This series includes newsletters, annual reports, correspondence, pamphlets, and thrift shop information.

The second series, Highland Park Hospital, documents the Highland Park Hospital. It holds material to increase awareness and promote the Hospital. Annual reports, early birth records, correspondence, hospital development information, program information, pamphlets, newsletters, newspaper clippings, newspapers, photographs (images and negatives), and stock certificates comprise this collection.

The J.Marion Gutnayer Collection consists of 18 folders, the bulk of which are architectural drawings and plans. The collection spans two segments of Gutnayer's long career and focus on projects near and around Highland Park, Illinois. The collection consists of residential projects from the early to mid-1950s, residential homes for the early to mid-1980s, and several multi-dwelling buildings from the late 1980s. A large portion of the collection documents the McDaniel Square complex, a multi-unit dwelling built throughout the 1980s. The collection contains architectural plans, sketches, schedules, topography surveys, as well as legal correspondence and promotional materials related to McDaniel Square.

This collection holds the clippings and other family or biographical information received by the Highland Park Historical Society in response to a questionnaire sent to families who lived in Highland Park, Illinois prior to 1940. Files are arranged alphabetically by last name.

This Highland Park centenary project culminated in the publication of "Highland Park : The First hundred years." The research and writing team included Anna Rigndahl, Lillian Tucker, Ruth Rose, Pat Heyman, Judi Nickol, James Wahlman, Chester Jones, and Marjorie Clavey.
