Dinelli-Prill was born in Highland Park, Illinois where her father was a groundskeeper at a golf club. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1952. After a fledgling career as a sports reporter, she became a columnist for the Midwest for the Illinois AgriNews for more than 35 years.
